Proposal to change the number of TOP Delegates-Validators in the SmartHoldem Blockchain
Delegates, Voting, Consensus and Elections are fundamental aspects for blockchain. We believe it is important to bring this important proposal to the attention of the community and to give each member their thoughts and suggestions. We want to thank every member of the community who came to the forum to share their thoughts on the future of the SmartHoldem consensus algorithm.
Thanks to its concept, DPOS blockchain allows more people to participate in blockchain governance, than PoS, and it can be argued that DPOS represents the principles of Decentralization better than other blockchains.
A Delegate is an account on the SmartHoldem blockchain that is registered as a Delegate. Top Active Delegates - Top Node-Validators of the SmartHoldem network, which are responsible for verifying transactions, creating new blocks and maintaining the SmartHoldem network. Delegates can be compared to a democratic electoral system.
Holders of STH SmartHoldem coins vote for the Nodes they want to see in the TOP.The proposal to change the number of Active Delegates in the SmartHoldem Top is related to the upcoming update of the SmartHoldem blockchain and the connection of the second level of Node. Tentatively, the network will be deployed in the third quarter of 2021, and the SmartHoldem blockchain will be updated to version 2.0.0 created in the RUST programming language. We will tell you more about this impressive event in the near future. In short, 3 years of work, a lot of sweat, cryptography and blockchains allowed us to create an improved completely new version of SmartHoldem 2.0.0.
One of our exploratory work was the research of the regularity of prime numbers and we came to the conclusion that in order to improve and increase the throughput of the SmartHoldem blockchain, as well as to improve the speed of transaction propagation, it is necessary to change the number of Delegate Nodes of the network Validators. Several games are in the works, including Decentralized Poker Room, and we are looking into changing the number of Top Delegates necessary for the entire system and future DAPPs.
64 Active Delegates work in the SmartHoldem blockchain in the Top, we propose to reduce the number of delegates to 53. There are also options with other numbers 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, but it is not advisable! to subject the number of delegates to a strong reduction, because how this might affect openness, decentralization and accessibility. Decentralization is when the system itself does not encourage groups or coalitions or cartels to vote. The decentralized structure of 53 distributed nodes allows more people to participate in the development of the network and motivates people to launch SmartHoldem Nodes.
Why 53?
53 is a prime number that meets the increased requirements for the functionality of blockchain algorithms needed to create decentralized blockchain-based applications, as well as it is more convenient to work with a prime number when calculating algebraic data structures and working with asymmetric encryption. This is an Important Stage in the development of the SmartHoldem Network.Due to the anticipated reduction in the number of Delegates to the Top, Delegates earnings from Forging will increase. In the SmartHoldem blockchain, 10,800 blocks are generated in 24 hours, each block contains 50 transactions. If the number of delegates is reduced, this amount will not be divided by 64 delegates, but by the proposed 53.
- SmartHoldem coin holders will gain even more voting power, as it will be easier for them to make a choice in favor of a particular delegate based on the proposals.
- Reducing the number of delegates will become more motivation for the current Delegates from the TOP to participate more actively in the development of the network.

Upon completion of closed studies, we will publish links to test networks: testnet with 64 delegates and testnet with 53 delegates, with their characteristics. In test networks, it will be possible to conduct crash tests of the blockchain, view the load, measure the speed, and see the profitability of a node with a blockchain loaded with transactions. A specialized application will be available for conducting crash tests.
